Micro site for the United Kingdom

Welcome to the European Blind Union (EBU) European Year micro site for the UK.

As part of the European Year of People with Disabilities 2003, EBU has developed a website, with the support of the European Commission, to give out information about the Year and to help blind and partially sighted people to share their views and experiences. EBU member organisations in all 15 EU countries are taking part, as well as in four of the candidate countries: Czech Republic, Cyprus, Poland and Romania. The website conforms to the strictest accessibility criteria to make sure that all people regardless of the nature and level of their sight loss can participate.

This site provides you with a forum to express and exchange views. We will collate the contributions made here throughout the year, and present the results. Our aim is to start up an interactive exchange and promote dialogue between blind people and their organisations across Europe.

VISION
This is the space to share your ideas and dreams. What would improve your quality of life? How can we make the world a better place for blind people? 

INDIGO
This is the space to tell us about ways in which you have experienced discrimination as a blind or partially sighted person. Do you feel that you have equal rights? Have you been treated differently from sighted people? 

FORUM
This is the space to share your views on disability issues. It will be open from July 2003 on the main site. You can either start up a discussion or react to the views already posted.

The views and stories posted on the site throughout the year will be collated into a report which will be disseminated widely and presented to the European Commission and the press.
